During his career he published over twenty books of poetry. He is generally identified as a member of the literary group known as Los Contemporaneos, but produced much of his best work long after the group had dissolved. Because he spent much of his literary career helping new poets through his workshops and editorship of national publications, after his death the national prize for young poets was established and named in his honor the Premio Nacional de Poesía Joven Elías Nandino. |
