У Большого пруда — II Джон Вудсворт Льется солнце у Большого пруда, Покрытого водяным зеркалом... Над прудом сияют такие небеса, Что можно понять только взором. Спасибо, солнышко, что ты к нам пришло После вчерашней метелицы.. Да распознаём мы сияние твое... Какое пред глазами тут зрелище! Во мгле ли, на солнце ли, всё по душе, Покой тут в духовном сиянии... И я чувствую Божий покой во себе, В своей внутренней Ясной Поляне. Большой пруд, Ясная Поляна 3 октября 1998 г. Оба стихотворения "У Большого пруда" написаны 2 и 3 октября 1998 г., когда их автор участвовал в толстовской конференции в Ясной Поляне.  1 октября состоялся солнечный осенний день.  2 октября шла снежняя пурга.  3 октября потеплело, таял снег, пахнуло весной.  Председатель конференции В.И. Толстой (пра-правнук Л.Н. We thank you, dear sunshine, for coming today After yesterday’s snowstorm untimely… Your radiance is seen and enlightens our way… What an ecstasy, blest so sublimely! In gloom or in sunshine, all here is just right, Where peace lies in Spirit’s corona… And I feel in my heart God’s own peace-bearing light, In my own inner Yasnaya Polyana. Great Pond, Yasnaya Polyana 3 October 1998 Translated from the Russian by John Woodsworth  15 November 2001 The two 'Great Pond' poems were written a day apart while attending an academic conference at Yasnaya Polyana, Leo Tolstoy's ancestral estate, in early October 1998.  On 1 October we enjoyed a beautiful autumn day.  On 2 October we experienced a huge snowstorm.  On 3 October the snow melted and there was a touch of spring in the air.  The conference chair, Vladimir Ilyich Tolstoy (great-great-grandson of the famous writer), joked that Yasnaya Polyana can have three seasons of the year in three days.  The original and translation of both poems are published on the author's Director's Page on the site of Sasquatch Literary Arts Perfomance Series (Ottawa): http://www.e-sasquatch.ca/JohnFrame1Source1.htm
