of Pleasanton, Ca.  Her short story 'A Little Bit of "Old Faithful"' won first prize in  www.poeticdiversity.org prose contest, October 2006.  The story will be published in their April 2007 edition.

 
We regret to announce that our Arabic Editor Elias Abu-Saba of Alameda, passed away on September 28th, 2006.  He was a wonderful poet and translator.

placed Second in the Best Self-Help Book-English Language category, 8th Annual International Latino Book Awards, presented at BookExpo America in D.C., May 2006


Gabriela Anaya Valdepeña of North Park, Ca.’ book of poetry Welcome, Eavesdropper (see Book Reviews) won the San Diego Book Award for best published book of poetry. She recently was featured in Biobytes, in the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Susan Wilson of Livermore, Ca. won the 2006 Lydia Wood Award for Poetry in the Las Positas College Anthology.(see 2005 – 2006 Chapbook Series). She also won 3rd Place and 3 Honorable Mentions. Las Positas College is located in Livermore, Ca.:  www.laspositascollege.edu, May 2006

Marie Delgado Travis of Houston, Texas (see Book Reviews) led readings and panel discussions by Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul led contributors from Texas: Esther Bonilla Read, Rogelio Gomez, Maria Luisa Salcines, Olga Valle-Herr and Margarita Velez at the EDWARD JAMES OLMOS LATINO BOOK FAIR AND FAMILY FESTIVAL in Houston, the first weekend of May.
